I grew up on the Isle of Bute and then studied in Glasgow before moving to London in the early 1990s. There I founded and ran Accenture’s not-for-profit group, Accenture Development Partnerships(ADP), for 14 of my 20 years with the firm.  Since leaving Accenture in 2016, I focussed much of my attention on writing a memoir with a purpose.  I’m essentially using an unsettling but thankfully isolated mental health ‘wobble’ in late 2014, as an opportunity to hold a mirror up to the system.  I ask the question – “Did I got nuts, or is it the corporate system that’s crazy?”.  Indeed, speaking as a businessman who found himself the unlikely resident of a psychiatric hospital in Glasgow, the ‘normal’ world outside does seem to have gone a bit crazy.   The book is called “The Intrapreneur: Confessions of a Corporate Insurgent” to find out a bit more about the book and to order on Amazon click here.

Why have I written a book?

My motivations for writing the book are twofold: as a new tactic to grow awareness, particularly amongst millennials, of the powerful role for social innovation driven bottom up inside large corporations. Also, to help break the taboo surrounding mental health in business.
